About Me
I've always been curious and never took things at face value. Which I'm sure was exhausting for my teachers and parents! I had to dig away and research until I was satisfied that I had the correct answer. My father was an intelligence detective and his tenacity to find answers was a big influence on me, which is why I take an investigative approach when working with my clients. I gather clues from multiple angles and sources to determine what is blocking your body's natural ability to heal.
My own healing journey began as a very young overweight single mom desiring to lose weight, resolve my nasty headaches and digestive issues. That led me to take a strong interest in human physiology because conventional medicine had no answers for me. Juggling a toddler and working two jobs made getting a college education the typical way near impossible but I was tenacious. I loved to research and learn as much I could get my hands on! I finally put myself through school, lost the weight, started working as a personal trainer and now had my own business. After moving to Minnesota, I went back to school and graduated as Valedictorian at the MRI School of Minnesota. Desiring to help people on a deeper level then led me to Functional Medicine. I was truly fortunate to be working for the most regarded functional medicine education company in the industry. During this time I had started getting debilitating migraines. I couldn't concentrate or focus to absorb this amazing information I was being taught. The compassion and intelligence of my peers helped me understand how gluten was affecting my brain. I would have never finished my education otherwise. Gluten can severely affect the brain! I have almost 10 years of functional medicine education. I attended years of cutting-edge, physician level seminars and that allowed me to be knowledgeable enough to educate other doctors on the latest functional medicine research in the Austin and San Antonio areas. The courses were taught by Dr. Datis Kharrazian and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from a Harvard Research Fellow and developer of The Institute of Functional Medicine programs. He is widely regarded by his peers as the most brilliant mind in natural medicine today. I would encourage you to google him to get a better understanding of his contributions and accolades. After that I earned my certification as a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner. To learn more about what FDNs do click here; https://www.functionaldiagnosticnutrition.com/about-us/
I now live in the Texas Hill Country and in my spare time I enjoy kayaking, hiking, fishing, weight training, yoga, painting and reading books on psychology, mindset and always staying up to date on the latest advancements in natural medicine. I love coffee (yes, it's ok!) and I have 3 grown boys that constantly keep me on my toes!
